George M. Underwood Jr's Account of Dean Galvin's Donation Request

Principal donor George M. Underwood Jr. wrote this amusing recollection of Dean Charles O. Galvin's request for a $1 million gift, which is equivalent to approximately $6 million today. Mr. Underwood and Dean Galvin were reared in University Park and lived only a few blocks apart. They were childhood friends and remained close friends for life. Although Mr. Underwood received his undergraduate degree from SMU, he had no particular connection to the School of Law other than his friendship with Dean Galvin.
